Handles Income and expenditure, Online and Chequeing Banking transactions, Controls and Implements the Budget, Processes monthly Payrolls, handles procurements, carries out Managerial and Financial / Statutory Accounting and Reporting, and contributes to safeguarding and Control of Assets for Good Financial Management |

Finance Department is under the leadership of the University Bursar and is responsible for budget implementation and control, payroll and financial reporting i.e.,
|
|
a) Collects all income from all income sources approved by the University. |
|
b) Pays for all approved activities as per approved budget and payment plan. |
|
c) Handles national and international on-line and chequeing banking transactions. |
|
d) Control and implement the budget by ensuring that expenditures are incurred according to budget. |
|
e) Process monthly payroll according to KU salary scales and staff contracts also to ensure that statutory and non-statutory deductions such as NSSF, TAX, NHIF, SACCOS etc. are done and timely paid. |
|
f) Handles Procurement of goods and services upon receiving approved users’ department demands, purchase plan and management decisions/approval guided with KU Procurement Manual |
|
g) Periodical financial/management reports are prepared and made available for management to measure the performance, but also Audited Financial statements are published annually |
