Handles Income and expenditure, Online and Chequeing Banking transactions, Controls and Implements the Budget, Processes monthly Payrolls, handles procurements, carries out Managerial and Financial / Statutory Accounting and Reporting, and contributes to safeguarding and Control of Assets for Good Financial Management

Finance Department is under the leadership of the University Bursar and is responsible for budget implementation and control, payroll and financial reporting i.e.,

a)     Collects all income from all income sources approved by the University.

b)     Pays for all approved activities as per approved budget and payment plan.

c)     Handles national and international on-line and chequeing banking transactions.

d)     Control and implement the budget by ensuring that expenditures are incurred according to budget.

e)     Process monthly payroll according to KU salary scales and staff contracts also to ensure that statutory and non-statutory deductions such as NSSF, TAX, NHIF, SACCOS etc. are done and timely paid.

f)      Handles Procurement of goods and services upon receiving approved users’ department demands, purchase plan and management decisions/approval guided with KU Procurement Manual

g)     Periodical financial/management reports are prepared and made available for management to measure the performance, but also Audited Financial statements are published annually
