Review Process, Study Duration & Ethical Clearance:
Access the Main Menu and click on IREC
Download the KU IREC Application for Ethical Clearance Form and the KU PG Research Proposal Template under IREC. Follow the instructions on these templates and submit the required documents with your proposal. The latter document is only applicable to PG students.
Download and fill out the KU IREC Application Assessment Form, up to the methodology section only.
Submit your proposal, a cover letter (signed by both supervisors and with your email address and mobile number included), the filled-in KU IREC Application Assessment Form, and a plagiarism check report on your proposal (KU IT Department).
Use the KU IREC Addressing Reviewers Comments Form during your review process to give your responses. Include the contact details of the investigator and the contact details of the IREC Chairperson on both consent forms of the appendices.
Use the KU IREC Protocol Amendment Form for any changes in the procedures of your previous approved proposal.
Use the KU IREC Study Report Form to submit a study progress report if your study or data collection activities continue beyond six months. Significant changes will require the submission of a revised request for ethical approval.
The ethical clearance certificate is in effect for one year from the date of approval.
Permission to publish your findings should be sought from the National Institute for Medical Research (NIMR) before submission to a publisher and not concurrently.
