Overview

The Kairuki University hostel is an accommodation facility for students, located at 182 Chwaku Street, Regent Estate, Kinondoni Municipality in Dar Es Salaam Region.  The hostel is set up to meet the accommodation demand of students from different states and areas of the country for qualities of education and training throughout their course of study by providing a clean, safe and healthy environment for all residents. Students in the hostel enjoy harmonious relationships with each other, superiors and hostel workers. All ensure safe, healthy and happy stay without any disturbances.

Available facilities.

1. The hostel building is equipped with good facilities that attract students who prefer staying in the hostel. Currently, the available facilities are as follows: - 24-hour water and electricity supply, we have underground water well and a standby generator. We have Wi-Fi internet services to ensure our residents have access to study materials at any time when they are in hostel compound. We have qualified cleaners who clean the whole building environment for seven days of the week.
2. The hostel is situated within walking distance of classrooms, hospital wards, and public facilities needed by students hence minimizing time and transport cost to students.
3. The hostel is situated near Kairuki Hospital where students take advantage of private extra coaching from experienced doctors and nurses at any time of their convenience.

Kairuki Hostel Accommodation by Gender.

The boys and girls are housed in one hostel building. The hostel is a five-storey building with two wings on each floor. i.e.  wing A and B.

Wing A is big compared to wing B and used to accommodate female students who are large in number. The female students occupy 75% of the whole building.

The hostel has a total number of 159 rooms that cater for 456 students at full capacity. The accommodation spaces of the whole building are only 30% of all students at our university. So, many students stay in off campus hostels due to the shortage of rooms in our hostel building.

Room Categories and Pricing.

Kairuki hostel has three categories of rooms as follows: -

1. Double rooms, accommodating two students where each student pay Tanzanian shillings 1,090,000 per year.
2. Triple rooms, accommodating three students where each student pay Tanzanian shilling 840,000 per year and
3. Quadruple rooms that accommodate four students and each student pay Tanzanian shilling 840,000 per year.

Hostel Management.

Hostel Manager, Dean of Students and Estate Manager constitute Hostel Management. Students approach any of the above officers for help, guidance, and grievances redress.
